The H2 Environmental Policy
Purpose
To outline the company's policy and procedures on environmental awareness and protection.
Environmental Principles
Because the world's eco-system is fragile and its natural resources limited, H2 considers that it is important to minimize impact on the environment. Everyone has a responsibility to help preserve, conserve, reuse and recycle.
This commitment to a sustainable environment is reflected in our policies and practices in the office and in our choice of suppliers from whom we demand, as a minimum, compliance with EU standards and codes of practice.
Furthermore, H2 recognizes that effective environmental management can impact positively on company profitability. For example, programs designed to make efficient use of natural resources often minimize operating costs. Furthermore, sound environmental practices help raise our profile and reputation among clients and prospective clients. In these ways and more, environmental awareness is viewed by H2 as important to the economic well-being of the company.
In light of the above, the following environmental policy has been established.
Environmental Policy Statement
Environmental awareness and protection is a management responsibility as well as the responsibility of every employee of the company. This policy addresses aspects of H2's operations which could potentially impact the environment.
The company shall seek to:
• Conduct its operations in compliance with laws, regulations and standards concerning environmental protection and monitor our actions to ensure compliance and continual improvement.
• Promote employee awareness of environmental concerns, actions and responsibilities.
• Reduce waste by recycling paper, plastics and glass. Conserve electricity by turning off all computers and monitors at the end of each day. Use windows rather than air conditioning to regulate the ambient temperature of the office. Encourage staff to walk, cycle, car-share or take public transport to work.
• Promote the adoption of environmental protection goals and practices by contractors and suppliers acting on behalf of H2, encouraging improvements in our contractors' and suppliers' practices to make them consistent with those of the company.
• Encourage our clients to insist on eco-friendly printing, namely the use of water-based inks, recycled paper or paper sourced from sustainable forests.
